Bike 101

ว่าด้วยเรื่องจักรยาน
อย่างบ้านเรา หรือที่ลอนดอนก็ตามที
สังเกตเอาเองว่า วัฒนธรรมจักรยานจะเป็นของ
1. คนค้าขาย/ส่งของ ที่ไม่สะดวกจะซื้อรถ
2. คนปั่นออกกำลังกาย อารมณ์เหมือนตีแบต จ๊อกกิ้ง
3. ดีไซน์เนอร์ ชิคชิค

แต่สำหรับที่นี่ จักรยานเป็นอะไรที่ทั่วไป และเกลื่อนกลาดมาก
ตอนมาครั้งแรก เห็นจักรยานที่จอดอยู่แถวcentral station แล้วถึงกับหลอน
นึกถึงฝูงแมงสาป (กรุณาดูภาพประกอบ)

คิดเองอีกเช่นกันว่า จักยานสำหรับคนที่นี่ เทียบกับรถก็ยังไม่ได้ ต้องเทียบกับขามากกว่า
คือไม่ได้มีไว้แสดงรสนิยมสถานะหรืออะไรนักหนาแบบรถ แต่มีไว้ใช้
สังเกตได้จาก 80% ของจักรยานที่จอด จะสนิมขึ้น เป็นรอย ง่อก ง่อย พัง เน่า เป็นปกติ
และถือเป็นอุปกรณ์เบสิกที่ทุกคนมี

เมื่อตระหนักได้ดังนั้น หลังจากที่เรามาถึงได้1อาทิตย์
ก็ตัดสินใจซื้อจักรยานเป็นของตัวเอง และที่สำคัญ ซื้อคันใหม่กิ๊งมือหนึ่ง
ถามว่าขี่เก่งแล้วหรือถึงลงทุนซื้อของใหม่
ตอบได้เลยว่า ขี่ไม่เป็น

แต่เอาไว้ค่อยเล่าเรื่องราวการหัดขี่คราวหน้า
ไม่งั้นโพสนี้จะยาวเกินไปและไม่มีใครอ่าน

ว่าด้วยเรื่องทั่วไปในการดูแลรักษาจักรยานของท่าน
เรามีบุคคลผู้เชี่ยวชาญ(กว่าเรา) ในการใช้ชีวิตที่อัมสเตอร์ดัม
หลังจากนี้อาจมีการโควทถึงบ่อยๆ ขอเรียกโดยย่อว่าท่านผู้นำ
ท่านผู้นำได้สอนไว้ว่า ในการล็อกจักรยาน ต้องประกอบไปด้วย2สิ่งถึงจะปลอดภัย

1. ล็อกล้อหลัง
เป็นอุปกรณ์ที่ต่อกับล้อหลังที่ทำให้โจรไม่สามารถเอาล้อไปได้
ต้องซื้อแล้วเอาไปให้ที่ร้านติดให้

2. โซ่ล็อก
และต้องเป็นโซ่เหล็กหนาตึ้บแบบที่เอาไว้ผูกประตูรั้วบ้านเท่านั้น
โซ่แบบสายยางๆบางๆเบาๆไม่ได้เป็นอันขาด ล่อเป้า
เวลาคล้องต้องคล้อง 3 ส่วนเข้าด้วยกันคือ ล้อหน้า + ตัวถัง + เสา(หรืออะไรที่มั่นคง)
ถ้าคล้องแค่ส่วนใดส่วนหนึ่ง ส่วนที่เหลือก็สามารถหายไปได้อย่างง่ายดาย

ตอนแรกก็ก่อกแก่กนิดหน่อย
เพราะกว่าจะยกขึ้นที่จอด กว่าจะคล้อง กว่าจะพัน กว่าจะไขกุญแจ กว่าจะล็อกล้อหลัง
ใช้เวลาเฉลี่ยประมาณ 2 นาทีในโปรเซสทั้งหมด
แต่ซักพักก็เริ่มคล่องตัวขึ้น

ช่วงนี้ยังว่าง ก็คงจะมาเขียนอะไรเรื่อยเปื่อยเยอะแยะเก็บไว้อ่าน
ปลายเดือนจะเปิดเทอมแล้ว ชีวิตเราอาจจะเปลี่ยนไป

Words on bike have arrived.

As you all know, bike is big here in Amsterdam.
In Thailand there are 3 kinds of bikers (categorized by me)
1. delivery person, that may not be able to afford a motorbike
2. leisure / sporty type, similar to doing badminton or swimming
3. hipster designer
*an eco-friendly is something I am not certain about the existence of it
so I won’t count them.

And for me, I have never associate with a bike ever in my life.
To put it straight, I basically do not know how to cycle.

Then I walk around this town and feeling like a second-class citizen.
With an urge to get out of this desperation,
I managed to get my own bike after one week of being here,
then walked it home.

I will definitely express my deepest emotions towards
my personal cycling experience somehow, but not now.
It will take too long.

After having a bike I was suggested by the Amsterdam expert;
from now on I will call her ‘the master’ for easier use,
that there are ways to keep a bicycle safe from being stolen.
I found it very useful to the new comers with the new shiny bike; so here it goes.

1. A wheel lock
also called an O-lock or ring-lock (thanks to wiki again and always)
which will immobilizes the rear wheel.
It needs to be attached with the back wheel, you can ask any bike shop to do that.
This will keep the wheel from being taken apart or at least makes it seems harder to steal.

2. A big chain lock
The thin cable ones would not work for here certainly. Make sure you get a thick chain
and the one that is long enough it can pass through front wheel, the frame
and attach the bicycle to an immovable object. And make sure to do that every time.

This is just a basic necessity you need for the general bike here.
Still it can be stolen since the bike thieves are very professional,
it also depends on when/where you park (and your own luck) I guess.
So far the fiets is still with me,  which is great news.

Anyway, fiets means bicycles,
and balans is all I need.
